A Weekend Stroll Through A Treasure Trove
Last month, I spent my Saturday morning exploring a fabulous little store over at Woolstone street, Christchurch.
La Voûte is a charming underground vintage store that is a must-visit treasure trove for all vintage, and especially furniture lovers. In here, you can easily spend an hour browsing through lots of indoor décor pieces, vintage furniture, and lots of antique curios and knickknacks. You can find everything from antique books, and paintings, to vintage clothes and enough vintage furniture to make you swoon and immediately envision yourself redecorating various corners of your house, just so you can buy some gorgeous pieces of furniture.
I heard about the store through Instagram and learnt they are open every weekend from 10 am to 4 pm and on Thursdays from 4 pm to 8 pm. I happened to visit it on a weekend when they were also hosting an indoor flea market. So,in addition to having a nice little look around the store, I also got a chance to browse through the market where there were lots of exciting treasures to be seen and had by different sellers. From vintage Hotwheels to vintage records, there was lots to explore and I had the best Saturday morning having a mooch around the market before heading into the underground store.
The store was so welcoming, with its well-curated displays and super friendly staff. I bought myself an antiquarian book on prose from the store and picked up a little curio for my dresser from the market. It was definitely an exercise in restraint! All in all, a very successful and happy morning and I emerged from the store feeling very much like I had spent a very exciting morning in Alladin’s cave of treasures!
P.S: At the time of visiting the store, there was no lockdown in NZ and wearing masks indoors was not mandatory.
