A Successful Quest To Reclaim My Coffee Table!
I would say this increasingly stay-home world rekindled my love for jigsaw puzzles, but let’s be honest, I’m such a homebody that I was here even before the stay-home excuse was whipped out by our world. However, I could only indulge in the joy that is puzzling when I saw a nice long stretch of days with nothing else penciled in. That is after all, how I spent my winter break from uni.
That being said, when time is up, it’s up. And in those few days, you set aside you haven’t managed to complete that 1000 piece puzzle, tough luck because back in the box it’s gotta go. So in the battle of puzzle VS Me, the puzzle was winning. Between the lack of space, and I might as well be honest, a bit of laziness to clean up; the puzzle was winning. So far the score always read,

Somewhere along the long road of time since 2020, the timeline is a little fuzzy to me, as I’m sure everyone can relate to the fact that time seemed to have a mind of its own this past year or so, I decided it was a bit ridiculous to let stop a fun and screen-free hobby like puzzling just because I was stumped on how to manage pieces and storage through the many many days it takes me to complete it(Yes, I’m one of the slowest puzzlers there ever was!)
After some procrastination, I went online looking for a solution, and lo and behold, the world is evidently filled with ingenious fellow puzzlers who led me to realize that there are many little nifty knick-knacks out there to let the puzzlers keep on puzzling. From Rolling mats, to puzzle sorting trays, every aspect of puzzling has been made a lot easier since I was a kid sprawled on the stone-cold floor spreading a 150 piece puzzle around me and trying to finish it up quickly before lunchtime.
This gave me the push I needed to buy a couple of puzzles and then purchase a portable puzzle board. ( Wrong order of purchases, but it’s me, so that’s not a surprise, really)
Long story short (lol) I’m enjoying my latest purchase called the ‘Porta Puzzle Deluxe’. Mine is from Mighty Ape, but I have seen lots of similar ones online. It’s a puzzle board that you can unzip and lay on any flat surface to work your puzzle on. Two removable panels cover the board. You can use them as surfaces to build or sort through pieces on. When you’re done, and in case you want to stop working on it, for the time being, you simply pop the panels over the board; they secure perfectly onto place, holding the pieces in, so you can zip up the board and store it neatly away until next time. The pieces remain in place, and the board is slim enough to store away without occupying much space. The board zips neatly, is lightweight, and has a handle making it completely portable. I went for the 500-1000 piece puzzle size, but you can choose the size you want depending on the kinds of puzzles you like to do.
Basically, it allows you to store away an unfinished puzzle; it’s pretty much a procrastinator’s dream.
Oh plus, I now get my coffee table back. There may still be clutter (there is) but it’s not random puzzle pieces.
